The Future
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].
Colossians 3:2
Just because you can become frustrated doesn’t mean you must. Just because there are reasons to be angry, envious, resentful, or disillusioned doesn’t mean you have to choose them. Your feelings don’t have to be dictated by the world around you. Instead, you can root your emotions in the peace, joy, and beauty that God has placed within you. Don’t base your perspective on the problems anchor it in the possibilities God can bring out of them. Fix your attention not on judgment over what’s past, but on the goodness, He can bring into your life right now. Time moves forward so look forward in faith, and feel the hope of all that God can still do. Pour your God-given gifts, goodness, and passion into those opportunities to build something meaningful. Your future begins now. Choose to live it with purpose, beauty, and a passion for truth that reflects the heart of God.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, thank You for giving us the power to choose our perspective. Forgive us for the times we’ve chosen anger or envy instead of peace. Shift our focus from the problems around us to the possibilities in You. Let our hearts reflect Your goodness in every choice we make. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When God is your source, you don’t have to be a prisoner of your circumstances.
