Being Thankful

Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].

Colossians 3:15

Some blessings are easy to spot, a kind word, a breakthrough moment, a prayer answered right on time. Others hide behind challenges, waiting to reveal their value through time and trust. Gratitude is not pretending that everything feels good; it is believing that God can bring good out of everything. When you learn to thank Him not just for what is pleasant, but also for what is painful, something powerful begins to shift inside you. Gratitude opens your eyes to see God’s fingerprints where you once saw only frustration. It transforms ordinary moments into opportunities and setbacks into steppingstones. Being thankful does not mean ignoring reality, it means seeing God’s hand at work in all of it. Every day holds reasons to be grateful, whether seen or still unfolding. Choose gratitude in the sunshine and in the storm, and you will discover that thankfulness is not just a reaction to blessing, it is the doorway to it.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, thank You for every gift You’ve given, even the ones that came wrapped in struggle. When life feels heavy, remind us that gratitude lightens the load. Let our hearts stay soft, our words stay grateful, and our focus stay on You. Help us live as people who see blessings everywhere, because even in the hard places, You are still good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Gratitude turns pain into perspective.
