What Did You Say?
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
Proverbs 18:21
Your words carry more power than you realize. They can lift a heart or crush it. They can start healing or ignite conflict. They can open doors or slam them shut. Every conversation becomes a moment of influence, and every sentence becomes a seed you plant in someone else’s life and in your own. That’s why Scripture constantly reminds you to watch what you say. You don’t have to say everything you feel. You don’t have to react to everything you hear. You don’t have to speak at the speed of your emotions. Give your words purpose. Let truth guide them. Let wisdom shape them. Let kindness season them. Words spoken in haste often leave wounds, but words spoken in grace leave blessings. Choose to speak life, even when you feel frustrated. Choose to encourage, even when you feel tired. Choose to pause, even when you feel pressured. You shape your world with your words, so speak in a way that builds what you’ll be proud to live in.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, help us watch what we say and guard our mouths from speaking the wrong things. Please teach us to pause before we speak, to let Your grace shape our tone, and use our voices for encouragement, healing, and truth. Keep us from reacting in anger. Guide us to speak with patience and humility, and let our conversations reflect Your heart and build up the people around us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Speak life or speak less.
