Look Ahead
Never repay anyone evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and gracious and proper in the sight of everyone. If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:17–18
You cannot change what has already happened, but you have tremendous influence over what happens next. The power of this moment is not found in reacting to the past, but in intentionally shaping the future. Let the past inform you, yes, but do not let it control you. When you base your actions on what you want to make happen instead of what just went wrong, you move from reaction to leadership. Arguments, blame, and retaliation rarely create anything good. Value, peace, and progress are built when you choose a better outcome and work toward it. You don’t have to match rudeness with rudeness or injustice with more injustice. You can interrupt the cycle by choosing wisdom, restraint, and purpose. Even when you were not the one at fault, you may be the one positioned to make things right. That is not weakness, it is strength. Look ahead. Choose the outcome that brings life, peace, and growth. Then move toward it with clarity, humility, and determination.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, we ask for Your help to slow down enough to choose wisdom instead of reaction. Teach us to loosen our grip on what already happened and help us trade pride for peace. Please shape our responses so they sound more like You, look more like You, and lead to life and healing for everyone involved. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Choose the future you want to build, not the past you want to argue.
