The Joy of Paying the Price
For which of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to finish it?
Luke 14:28
Success always has a cost, and today you have the opportunity to willingly pay it. God never hides that truth. What He promises is that the price is never wasted. When you choose to invest your effort, creativity, discipline, and faith, you are not losing anything. You are participating in the process that forms real and lasting fulfillment. The cost of success may feel significant, but it is not meant to feel like a burden. When you pay it with joy and intention, it becomes part of the reward itself. God uses your effort to shape your character, sharpen your abilities, and expand your capacity. What you give is never simply taken. It is multiplied, refined, and returned in ways that reach far beyond what you expected. God invites you to step forward, not backward. To do what must be done, not grudgingly, but gladly. One of life’s greatest joys is discovering that the effort you once feared becomes the very thing that strengthens you most. Pay the price when the opportunity is offered and experience the deep satisfaction that comes from doing the work God trusted you to do.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, help us to stop looking for shortcuts and to start trusting the work You’ve placed in front of us. Reframe effort in our hearts so we see it not as a cost to avoid, but as a privilege to embrace. Give us courage to show up fully, joy to engage the process, and faith to believe that nothing done with You is ever wasted. Shape us through the work, strengthen us through the doing, and let the reward be the people we become along the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Success feels expensive until you see what it pays back.
