Healthy Balance
And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while’-for there were many [people who were continually] coming and going, and they could not even find time to eat.
Mark 6:31
Balance is not accidental; it is cultivated. Life loses strength when any one area dominates the whole. Work without rest drains purpose. Rest without responsibility weakens discipline. Even good things, taken to extremes, begin to lose their goodness. Scripture consistently points us toward having a healthy balance. When we ignore balance, imbalance eventually corrects us in ways we may not prefer. God designed life with patterns of renewal and effort, giving and receiving, sowing and resting. We do not glorify God by burning out, nor by drifting aimlessly. We honor Him by stewarding our energy wisely. A balanced life is not less productive; it is more sustainable. When rhythm governs our days, every part of life becomes richer and more effective.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, please teach us to refrain from extremes that drain our strength or dull our purpose. Help us work diligently, rest faithfully, and steward our time with wisdom. Shape our lives with healthy balance so that everything we do reflects trust in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Burnout is not a badge of honor.
