Being Content
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist there is disorder [unrest, rebellion] and every evil thing and morally degrading practice.
James 3:16
Envy drains energy without building anything in return. It narrows your focus to what someone else possesses and quietly convinces you that you are behind. Left unchecked, it distorts perspective and steals joy. Yet envy also reveals desire. It shows you what you value. Instead of resenting what others have, examine what it awakens in you. Is it excellence you admire. Discipline. Influence. Opportunity. Those qualities are not reserved for someone else’s life. Gratitude widens the lens. It reminds you that God has already entrusted you with gifts, time, and potential. Inspiration moves you forward. Envy keeps you stuck. When you redirect that restless energy toward growth and action, it becomes fuel. You are not assigned someone else’s calling. You are entrusted with your own. Build it faithfully. Celebrate others. Then get to work cultivating the good that is possible right where you are.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, please keep our hearts from envy and comparison. Teach us to celebrate others without diminishing what You are building in us. Grow gratitude in our thoughts and inspire us toward faithful action. Help us steward our own calling with joy and integrity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Winners focus on winning. Losers focus on winners.
