The Gift of Gratitude
In every situation no matter what the circumstances be thankful and continually give thanks to God for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Gratitude is one of the most practical ways to change the atmosphere of your day. It does not ignore difficulty. It simply refuses to let difficulty have the final word. When you give thanks you become more aware of what is present than what is missing. You notice the people who support you, the strength you have for your work, the small provisions that carry you through the day. This shifts your attitude in very real ways: You complain less and encourage more. You become more patient with people. You handle inconvenience with greater calm.
You experience contentment in ordinary moments. Gratitude also keeps your heart soft. It reminds you that everything you have is a gift and that God is actively involved in your life. Make it a practice today to pause and name specific things you are thankful for. Not in general terms, but in real and immediate ways. Gratitude turns an ordinary day into a meaningful one.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me a thankful heart in every circumstance. Open my eyes to see the good You are doing in my life right now. Help me to speak with gratitude, respond with patience, and live with contentment. Let thanksgiving shape the way I walk through this day. In Jesus name AMEN!
Gratitude brings strength to the present moment.
