Guard Your Direction
For this reason [that is, because of God’s final revelation in his son Jesus and because of Jesus’ superiority to the angels] we must pay much closer attention to the things that we have heard, so that we do not [in any way] drift away from truth.
Hebrews 2:1
Drift rarely announces itself. It does not begin with a clear decision to move off course, but with small, quiet shifts in attention. A little less focus, a little less intention, and over time direction begins to change. What you consistently give your attention to will shape where your life moves. This is why awareness matters. Not in a heavy or anxious way, but in a steady, honest way that notices when your focus begins to slip. God is not distant when you drift. He is present, gently calling you back, reminding you of what is true, and re-centering your steps. Staying aligned is not about perfection. It is about returning. Returning your thoughts, your attention, and your trust back to Him again and again. Over time, those small returns form a life that stays on course. Direction is not determined in one moment, but through repeated decisions to refocus and realign with what God has already shown you.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, guard our focus and sharpen our awareness. When we begin to drift, gently draw us back to what is true. Help us stay aligned with Your direction and live with intention each day. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
Drift is subtle, but direction matters.
