Choose What Lasts

Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2:15

Much of what competes for your attention promises satisfaction but cannot sustain it. Recognition fades, trends change, and temporary pleasures rarely deliver the depth they advertise. This is why Scripture continually calls your heart back to what lasts. God is not trying to remove joy from your life. He is trying to protect you from building your life on things too small to carry it. When your identity becomes rooted in temporary things, instability follows closely behind. But when your life is anchored in God, your priorities begin to settle into the right order. You stop chasing what constantly shifts and begin investing in what produces lasting peace, wisdom, and strength. The things of God may not always feel urgent, but they are always enduring. What lasts longest is often what matters most.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, help us recognize the difference between what is temporary and what is lasting. Guard our hearts from becoming consumed by things that cannot truly satisfy. Teach us to build our lives around what honors You and produces lasting peace, wisdom, and purpose. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

What lasts deserves your attention most.
