When Wisdom Listens

He who answers before he hears [the facts], it is folly and shame to him.

Proverbs 18:13

Many misunderstandings begin because people listen only long enough to prepare a response instead of truly understand. Wisdom slows down enough to hear clearly before reacting quickly. Listening well requires humility because it asks you to pause your assumptions and make room for another perspective. God often works through careful listening. It strengthens relationships, prevents unnecessary conflict, and creates understanding where confusion might otherwise grow. A wise person does not feel the need to respond immediately to everything. They recognize that patience can reveal details haste would have missed. Listening is not passive. It is an intentional act of respect, maturity, and discernment.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, teach us to listen with patience and wisdom. Help us slow down before reacting and give us understanding that goes deeper than quick assumptions. Let our conversations reflect humility, grace, and maturity so that our words bring peace instead of confusion. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

Wisdom listens before it reacts.
