When You Cannot Fix It
Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
There are moments when action is necessary, and there are moments when more action only creates more anxiety. Being still is difficult because it requires admitting that some outcomes are beyond your control. You cannot manage every person's opinion, predict every circumstance, or solve every problem before it arrives. But you can choose where your confidence rests. God's invitation to stillness is not an invitation to indifference. It is a call to stop acting as though everything depends on you. He remains God when the answer is delayed, when circumstances are complicated, and when you have reached the edge of your own ability. Sometimes faith looks like taking action. Other times faith looks like unclenching your hands and allowing God to be God. There is tremendous peace in remembering that His strength begins where your control ends.
Prayer
Father in Heaven, settle the places within us that keep reaching for control. Give us discernment to know what is ours to do and humility to release what belongs in Your hands. When we cannot change the situation, deepen our confidence in Your character. Let stillness become a place where our trust in You grows stronger. In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
You do not have to control everything when you trust the One who holds everything.
